Evelyn we LOVED your Bahn Mi. I'm low carbing it-so I passed on the mayo and bread. Nathan said I should have it all so I could it the full effect of the meal.
ReplyDeleteI was also in LOVE with the HOT HOT sauce. When I was pregnant with Ruby I could not get enough hot sauce...I wish I had your sauce back when I was craving it so bad.

Ditto for our family with regard to the Bahn Mi. Not only were the sandwiches BEAUTIFUL, they were incredibly (edibly--ha!) tasty! Our kids loved them and we loved them! The ginger hot sauce was fantastic--my mouth is still tingling! :) Kudos, Evelyn!!

We had the Burgundy Beef tonight. In light of Jolean's announcement for the need to season it we purchased and used the Herbs de Provence. I also added some Port wine and about 1 1/2 tablespoons Beef Better than Boullion. It was tasty, and we're making last two nights! Thanks Jolean!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone ever used umami? It sounds exactly like what this recipe needed (a hearty base flavor) but I've never used it. If you have some it may be just the thing to enhance these flavors...
Julie
Bahn Mi was soooooooo good!!!!
ReplyDeleteJen
Had the Curry Shrimp tonight, Very good!!!!! Plenty for left overs!
ReplyDeleteJolean
The Asian pulled pork was a big hit here tonight! One drawback: the kids read the label on the meat package and all we've heard for the last 24 hours is "We're eating pig BUTT?!" or "I don't want to eat a pig's butt!" or "I LOVE pig butt!" Funny--for about a minute, then really, really old! :)

We also loved, loved, loved the bleu cheese herb pork chops! I couldn't remember if you left out the walnuts, but Ben was able to eat the butter without a problem. It was YUMMY!

The soup was great Julie Maegi. Very healthy! Nathan and I ate the whole pot! We had it for dinner, and lunch the next day. The kids were unsure about it, so they had the old stand by- grilled cheese.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Great month of meals again!!! Brandy- great meal, perfect for the grill!!! Your a keeper :-)
